Owino

"Hello TAC Family! I am Owino Simon Oduor, born and raised in Ugenya. I lost my mother at the age of 4 and was then taken in by my old grandfather. I remember that I had to sell charcoal to earn some money. Nevertheless, I started my education at Bar Odar Primary School. My primary school journey was greatly influenced by the headteacher at the time, Mr. Owuor Joshua. He gave me hope when things at home were almost falling apart.

When I reached class seven, he adopted me and hosted me at his home due to the challenges I was facing at home. With his support, I completed my primary education scoring 354 marks.

The most challenging moment came after my exams. My marks allowed me to proceed to secondary school, and I had an invitation letter by Sega Township Secondary School. However, Mr. Owuor insisted that I should attend a better school and one that offers boarding. The big question was how to finance that.

Thanks to his network, Mr. Owuor knew about the TAC Sponsorship Program. I attended the TAC interview and was indeed selected. TAC's support was comprehensive and came at the perfect time: TAC arranged for my admission to the excellent Kanga High School in 2015, where I studied without any financial constraints or disruption. After 4 years, I managed to score a B+ in my secondary school exams in 2018.

In 2019, I was called to join Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), where I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation and Control. I studied for four years and graduated successfully on 28th June 2024. Thank you, TAC, for being the main supporter during my academic journey! God bless TAC."
